Coming back home....

Why art spaces create lasting community…

Creative expression is a vulnerable experience for most people. There’s almost always a fear of “what if this doesn’t work the way I think it should” or “what if I have no talent”?

A creative community offers safe space for creative expression and not just learning opportunities. A well run studio that offers learning and supports growth beyond just what happens on the canvas….that’s a creative community!

There are many things people crave when the heart calls out for creative outlets. The two most common attributes people seek, in my 18 years of facilitating creative events?…

A sense of freedom and a sense of belonging.

When people sign up for an art class or a workshop, they absolutely want to learn something. Yet, weeks into an ongoing class, I hear the deeper reasons that prompted someone to call the number or visit the website on that particular day they made the choice to start. More times than not, the momentum that pushed them toward their goal was about how they felt isolated, unsupported or lacking in connection (with themselves or with people of like mindedness).

What’s the big deal?

It’s an art class, right?…

  • The creative process is a beautiful arena for self exploration and communication with others.

  • The creative spaces we step into offer opportunities to see with new perspective.

  • The creative communities we support inspire growth within ourselves and all aspects of our lives.

SO when you step into your next art class?…

look around and see how you feel. Is the space created for how you want to experience your creative process? Are you ready to go a little deeper than what an art class can offer?

Is it drawing and painting you’re looking for…or is there something deeper calling you to let go and just enjoy the process?… That’s a whole different experience and most people don’t understand the options.

Let’s explore your options…

Visual Arts Classes/Workshops: There is a written curriculum with a set of goals for learning from an experienced teacher within a set time frame. The focus in on setting goals and achieving measurable progress.

Ongoing Art Classes/Creative Community: Year-round facilitated space offering guidance, resources and equipment/supplies for creative activities as listed on the description. The community center is focused on art experiences with teachers, facilitators and speakers offering growth experiences designed to foster the growth of the individuals and the community.

Expressive Arts Sessions: Facilitated spontaneous expression activities guided by certified expressive art facilitators. The activities focus on process more than product and foster self awareness, growth and well-being.
